AWAKE O YE MUSLIMS OF THE WORLD!

O ye Muslims! Be as One, to safeguard the sanctity of Haram
From the banks of River Nile, to the sands of Kashgar.

The foes of Islam threaten you from within and outside,
And the forces of Satan are spreading discord and rancour.

Remember the lessons of history and wake up ere it's too late,
Give up indolence and luxury and all your courage muster.

The worshipers of falsehood and the servants of Lucifer,
Are bent upon eroding the foundations of Islam's tower.

So waste not your nights with wine, women and gambling,
Conserve your mettle and your might to battle the evil offender.

Defuse not your energy on infighting and squabbling,
Gird up your loins to defeat the fiendish plunderer.

You are the best of people evolved on this planet,
Prove it by your thoughts and deeds, your faith and your character.

Defy the odds that are stacked by your enemies,
Prepare your hearts and minds to beat the modern crusader.

Anti-Islamic forces have, once again, reached Khyber,
Now's the time to foil their plot like Ali, "Lion of God", the Haider*.

Awake! O ye Muslims and save the sanctity of the Haram,
From the banks of River Nile to the sands of Kashgar.

O my God! Let my plea spread everywhere, far and wide,
And may my call sharpen the will of every true believer.

Author's Notes/Comments:

*LION OF GOD, THE HAIDER: The titles of the fourth Caliph of Islam Ali bin Abu Talib whose wondrous deeds of courage and bravery glorify Islam and Muslims to this day.
The first stanza of this poem is a literal translation of a couplet by the Poet of the East, Dr. Mohammad Iqbal, from his anthology of poems in Urdu. The last stanza is an inspired thought of my own based, of course, on Allama Iqbal's verse.
