NIGHT AND DAWN

Orion and its different wonders,
Plaeides and Andromeda,
Perseus and Cassiopea,
Stoic silence stills the thunders.
Birds songs and roosters' call,
Say it is another dawn again,
All night long was like Fall,
Hiding tears, aches and pain.
Songs at a gypsy gathering,
Dancers depicting romance,
Love, death and separation,
A diamond ring keeps shining.
Ghazals too fill the air,
Of broken hearts and pining souls,
I feared I too might share,
A couplet or two about fate's roles.
A cup of brimming, golden vine,
Broke the state that I was in,
"Drink it friend, this is thine",
Said a voice, velvety fine.
I shook my head nodding a no,
She implored me more sweetly,
In her gaze there was sorrow,
But deep within there was a glow.
I looked not more at her and rose,
For she too was shaken inside,
Her agony was deep, morose,
And unwept tears were her guide.
I walked away as soon as I could,
Joy and pathos played a tune,
So many people misunderstood,
On a night without a moon...
Life and love are not good friends,
And the pilgrim me keeps wondering,
At the mysteries of unseen bends,
Playing havoc from beginning to end.
I must not reveal the secret ground,
I came across while on the mystics' path,
God loves to reside in bleeding hearts,
With Him only can real peace be found.
This shining star once lit deep within,
Can make us oblivious of everything else,
When one has seen the Light of Truth,
Artificial lamps become dark and dim.
For years I had pondered on,
Materialism and spirituality,
And now my heart says "Be gone!",
To this age of infidelity.
