LINES ON THE TAJ MAHAL, MUMTAZ MAHAL AND PRINCESS DIANA

Taj Mahal,

Monument of love,

Two queens graced the place.

Mumtaz* stayed,

Diana* desired,

But fate had different plans for both.

Mumtaz was loved,

Diana longed to be,

But somehow it was not for her.

The Taj lives on,

And I can feel Di-

Her soul still hovering around.

Cupid's darts are strange,

They kill some souls,

Souls wanting nothing but love.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Composed in Karachi, Pakistan, on the 12th of December 2008...while contemplating on a picture of late Princess Diana sitting on a bench at the Taj Mahal...the monument of Emperor Shahjahan for his queen Mumtaz Mahal.
Diana lives on as the queen of everybody's hearts.
