I remember back in the day, everyone was calling each other posers.
The guy with a 12 inch mohawk was a poser, the guy chucking the
molotov cocktail was a poser, the little kid down the street with a
skateboard was a poser. Then one day this bizarr and evil term seemed
to dissapear. Punks, preps and nerds alike all seemed to live in a
harmoneous anti-snob world. It was great.
But now it seems there are people who want to ruin this harmony. The
term poser is being used more and more once again. And quite frankly,
it's pissing me off. I was once a damn proud poser. Who do you think
you are to judge people? Their enjoying their lives, why must you
critisize them? They're not hurting anybody. If someone pays the 5
bucks to go see Temper, who are you to say they're less deserving to
see them then you?
We're all supposed to be fighting fascism and tyranny, but in my
opinion anyone who dares to judge and classify people as "posers" are
punk rock zionists. They're trying to create a pure race of hardcore
elite. Well I refuse to be a part of this elite, I'd rather hang out
with the kid who thinks Blink 182 are rebels then the asshole who
thinks he's better then anyone else.
Being a poser can work in two ways:
Way 1: (the correct way): If a poser who, (for short), copies, then
everyone is a poser. The first example thats comes to mind is
the "punks" calling the "want to be punks" "posers". They are
copying "punks", right? So are you saying EVeRYTHING YOU DO, WEAR, OR
SAY is completely your own? If youre saying yes then you are lying.
So you copied. Period. You know its true. Not saying you copy
everything but most likely you are a poser. Deal w/ it. Some people
may be a little more "poserish" than others but, why does it matter?
So next time you're about to call someone a "poser", think about it.
Have you said, "how goes it?", have you said you like a band you've
never heard of? Don't be a hypocrite, b/c hypocries are the worst
besides people with no sense of humor.
Way 2 (the way we most commonly use):
You hear people calling other people posers alot, you hear people
calling you a poser, or you call other people posers. What they mean
(or you) is "they copied so and so" not remembering the times they
have "posed" someone else or "they try too hard to be _____(fill in
the blank)". thats stereotype. Saying that they "pose" too much. Well
then how did you get where you are now? Some of us were always like
this, some of us slid into it, or peers rubbed off on us. Or,
finally, we decided we wanted to be like someone.
Those of you who know they are "posers": GOOD JOB! YOU KNOW WHATS
REALLY GOING ON AND WHAT IT REALLY MEANS. And also who or what you
really are.
Either way, the point trying to be made is that everyone is a poser.
No matter what you say or who you posed. That is unless you have been
locked up in a small room with nothing to eat except shriveled green
beans. (Details, Details)
