Man-made Mistrust

Who has gotten through the lies
On the surface of their eyes
To see the truths that lie beneath
Like a dagger in it's sheath

A dagger that when drawn is heavy
But with a hand so very steady
Can cut lace designs into enemies
While lies cut innocents endlessly

Build yourself a wall of lies
And let someone take you by surprise
Find yourself covered in dust
From a wall of man-made mistrust

Author's Notes/Comments:

It bothers me that people can lie so much (or hear others lie so much, even knowing that it's all lies) that they too become a victim of it and start to believe themselves (or what they used to know was lies).
