Leave It Be

An invisible blade forces us apart,
But there was no need to tear up my heart,
You could've stood up and said what you meant,
But instead you left me, crumpled and bent.

You lead me on and I wanted to believe,
But sometimes, now, I just need you to leave,
So I don't hear your voice, so I don't see your face,
Because everytime I do, my heart starts to race.

Your laugh reminds me of times, less complicated,
We'd talk all night, leaving my heart inflated,
But now something's different, I don't know what changed
Yet whatever happened left our minds rearranged

No longer are there times when you want to hang out,
Or strike up conversation, not leaving a doubt,
About what I meant to you, and you to me,
I'm not sure but maybe one day I'll see;
Look back at this moment and realize
How feelings can change and how fast time flies.

And I say all of this before my tears dry,
I can see now that I must say goodbye
To days spent talking, and joking around
But I'll keep my eyes on the stars, and my feet on the ground.
