Oil of Synchronicity:Seduction

Her life was run on the oil of synchronicity,

seduced by the seduction of abstract hypotheses.

The moons and ebbs of tides,

swoop in like thunderclaps

racing in on wing'ed lightning bolts,

capturing energy,

wiping out synergy,

till she huddles in a pile of her own failure,

tucking up her toes to avoid the floods,

admiring and condemning

the rain soaked

howling at her gate.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Searching for the second line's first word. All my choices create mixed metaphor, but though I tend to work my best in mixed metaphors.

Some other words suggested: planted (orginial), grounded....

Mixed metaphor referring to "Her life was run on oil..."  in first line machine runs by oil. Life being a machine or machination of synchronicity to second line her life is grounded or planted. I want something the opposite of running on smooth oil even if it's chaos (synchronicity) Something that complicates the smooth chaos of her tossled life.
Ideas? Does it read that? I like this newest word, seduced, but it still doesn't imply a the lack of choice in her pell mell world.

Speaking of Pell mell, I vividly remember being taught that word in school. Thinking what a cool word. Why is she making such a big deal over it, lol. It was probably the first word I recognized that described an underlying current.

I doubt I every spell it right.

new word is thought: chained, complicated (duh too obvious)
