Animal instincts

Nature,

Smell, sight, taste, touch, Hearing.

All intensified by her will to survive.

Two baby cubs innocently wondering away from her side.

Feeling safe and secure,

knowing mama bear is near.

Hungry eyes peer out of the dark forest,

Waiting for mama to leave the cubs,

just long enough to strike.

Mama's inner wisdom tells her to beware.

She smells their stench,

Hears the leaves crunch under their feet,

feels the vibration of their steps on the earth,

And finally is guided to look in their direction.

She takes in a deep breath,

Stands tall on her hind legs,

And releases a deep growl that echos through the universe,

Warning to all that she will kill for those she loves.

The hungry eyes,

Slowly cower in fear,

Knowing they are outpowered.

Knowing instinctively,

Nothing can overpower the love of a protectant mother.

She has successfully protected her offspring,

At least for this moment.

The sun rises and  sets,

and the seasons change.

The cubs no longer cubs,

Now become the mama bears.

And so begins a new cycle of life.

Senses even more heightened,

Instincts stronger.

As the world becomes more and more challenging to survive.
