Dear One



You tempted me unto this cage.

Sent your dove of love to show me... the way

Did you think placing the moon and clouds

would be enough to keep me there?

Clouds not allowed to drift,

I could not stay Dear One.

Even locked in love would not do

with you, remaining on the outside.



Now I see you looking south for me,

Unrobed and remembering my touch.

Did you really think I'd stay sleeping?

That the drape of your love could hold me blind

where a lonesome whistle blowing in the distance

wouldn't be followed because she couldn't be seen?

Dear One, I could still hear her whispers.

Suppose you know that now



I need a love, unlike any love,

I've seen, or ever known, in this world

And oh Dear One, how I miss you.

But I could never return to your cage

Yet night after night, day after day

I think of you,

Remembering you,

Your scent permeates my mind



And even though I am over the mountains,

Through the pillar's of far away,

Each night I travel to then,

I kiss you once again,

And remember when,

Our love was so perfect

And you were not wondering

Dear One,

Where ?... I had gone.
