Cherished Love

Cherished vows are spoken

they echo in the mind

longafter they've been broken

come back to you time after time

We scheme about the future

and dream about the past

stitch our heart back with suture

that we know will never last

In the shadows of loving one

more than they know or care

we visit a grave of loves undone

to bury our feelings there

We beckon to anything

to change our heart and soul

but escape effort in futility bring

this pain on your heart bestowed

And on this day where church bells ring

when life seems to have passed you by

try to listen to your spirit sing

treasure loves memories until you die
