I wrote "Wake Me Up" 'cause of a dream my daughter had about me. She a dream about me popping in at her Momaw's house, letting her know that was leaving for the Army. In this dream, she tried to get me to at least stay and eat supper with her, but off I went. She woke up the next morning crying, thinking I was gonna leave. Not that I'd ever do anything like that. First of all, I can't get into any military ever 'cause I have so health issues. But, most of all, I made a promise to my daughter a couple years ago that I will always be here for her, no matter what. That I will not ever leave her. I'm not one for making promises 'cause I don't make promises unless I can keep them. I won't say I haven't let her down a couple times, but I always try my hardest to keep my promises to her. That's what being a good Father Figure is always about. That's how it always should be. You don't ever fall back or give up on your kids ever.
