Soldier

Long ago I was a soldier,
My country to defend.
My heart will be a Soldier's
Until this journey's end

Now they call me Veteran
For I'm no longer young
But I'll remain a Soldier
Until my Requiem is sung

When those flames consume me
And my final journey's made
Standing proud I'll face my maker
On a Soldier's last parade.
