Lioness

Lioness

In truth she was but a kid
And barely out of school
When she joined the Army
They said "Oh what a fool"

Her heart had ruled her head
But she knew that she'd be fine
Without fear of consequence
She signed that dotted line

A medic she would become
Not for her to kill and maim
Her desire was but help
Relieve the fear and the pain

But there upon the battlefeild
Where choices are so few
While she learned to save a life
She learned to take one too

Wherefrom comes this courage
That so often seems uncouth
From the hearts of lions
Or the foolishness of youth
