I can remember myself arriving from school and finding her praying sitting in a sofa with the rosary in her hand. Religion is a central topic for my family, so praying became something that you were supposed to do every day. I remember getting my first rosary when I was in elementary school, but hers always was smelling to roses and I always preferred it. The rosary is made of wood and perfumed with a soothing rose scent. Many would say that talking about a rosary is not a big deal, but the thing is, it was always present in a lot of family events that involved praying for any reason. I remember using it every Christmas, as a symbol of union between all the members of the family when we gathered around the Christmas tree and prayed before getting dinner and opening the gifts. Little things are the ones that can unleash a wave of nostalgic feelings that can remind you something about a certain person. Among other things in a table, that rosary always shine and reminds me of a lot of things from the past.  She is the most devoted person I know, and even nowadays, when I arrive in the afternoon, she’s praying with that rose-scented rosary. When I was little, I asked her where did that rosary came from, she said that it was a gift from my great-grandmother. I believe that artifacts like this one are really powerful because they can connect you to your spiritual side, even if you don’t realize it. Maybe I don’t pray too much nowadays but I always appreciate a work of art that is that rosary. When I remember myself praying as a little child, I don’t understand if I did it because of me or because of her, since now I’m a little bit apart of that. It is amazing how possessions can break through the barrier of time and remind us a lot of things from our past, every Christmas, the rosary was there, and even if me and my cousins didn’t want to pray because we wanted to dinner and then open the gift, praying the rosary was unavoidable. As a kind hearted person, my grandmother and that rosary make a perfect match and I believe that it is going to remain there years and years from now to unite my family in special times.
