I remembered all these years later in a world
where I'm not much wiser
all the things I'm unable to change
the sediment of unmet expectations settles
burying my emotions in the bottom of a whiskey glass
in these moments when beginnings and endings drift together memories and fantasies collide
there is no greater unreachable distance
than finding you're way back to before
