Deception

They tell me, no- don’t fall for it.
My heart says, yes- dive in.
I know I’ll play this well, although-
How do I begin?

If this is what I think it be
Then take my heart and run.
But if you only toy with me,
The pain has just begun.

They tell me you’re bad
With no good in your heart-
I said they were wrong
They fell for your art.

'Cause I think within,
Somewhere deep down-
You’re bent on your knees;
You’re wearing no crown.

So if you are heartless
Then call me a fool.
An idiot, naïve,
Young child in school.

But prove them all wrong.
Be you to the best.
Just show them your heart,
And give me the rest.

For if you deceive me,
And spin me around,
You’ll be the one with
Your heart on the ground.
