Just like a desert rose

Buried deep beneath the sand

No one ever saw this coming

I dug my grave with my own hands

No more flowers in the soil

No more stars in the sky

There’s only one thing known for certain

Everything living will one day die



Where’s this Hell that’s below us?

Where’s this Heaven up above?

Let us try and find the answers

Soaring on the frail wings of a dove



Just like a desert rose

I did what Icarus could only dream of

I touched the sun with my own hands

All the plants growing in their gardens

All the planets are aligned

Enjoy this view and this moment

For someday soon we will all go blind



I can’t see this Hell down below us

I can’t see this Heaven up above

Someone please lead me in the right direction

I will comply with every push and shove



I left my dreams out in the desert

Buried them alone with those roses in the sand

Been crawling in the dark for so long now

Searching for this pseudo promised land
