One-Way Ticket

Like a ball tethered to a paddle

And my head felt equally battered

After futilely trying to dam

The river flowing from my eyes

With the contents of a bottle

But the giddiness is as fleeting

As an insincere peck on the cheek

From someone you used to know

And the self-loathing

Is a one ticket on a stalled train
