A Matter of Principle

On a matter of principle

She never drew straight lines

Or perfect circles

Perfect anything!

As a child she only colored

Outside of the lines

She abhored anything correct

Anything traditionally pretty

She created a new type of beauty

Making flaws

The new hallmarks of correctness

Now to anyone who sees her paintings

The pieces of her world

The old beauty is trite and naive
