The Eagles Flight

Folder:
2000

High over the mountain tops

The eagle doth soar

Higher and higher

The noise below is a faint roar

With the clouds below him

And the heavens still above

People watch him in awe

To fly like him they would love

Farther and farther

Does he go

Over plentiful fields

A farmer did lovingly sow

From high above

He spots the danger

A man in green

The local park ranger

The gun is loaded cocked

And then to eye level raised

The first bullet missed

The eagle not fazed

Angered the man aims again

Eyeing his target with much skill

The eagle watches from above

Knowing he is to be the kill

Again a fire is shot

This time the target is injured

"Hell Ya" is the triumphant cry

If not but for lack of a better word

The hunter wasn’t a ranger

But an illegal poacher

He snatched up his prey by the neck

Knowing his actions weren't kosher

To the market he doth travel

Holding the eagle high

To his life in the forest

The eagle could say goodbye

Many eagles in the forest

That are hunted for prey

And when one was captured

Oh would the markets pay

Money was exchanged

His life was to be spent

Or so it was arranged

To meet an early end

The man took the eagle

And put him in a cage

The eagle squawked and scratched

For he was full of rage

The man tried to calm the eagle

With parsley an nuts

His spirit couldn't be broken

This eagle had some guts

So the man stopped feeding the eagle

For days and days at a time

The eagle slowly passed on

As the clock did chime

He buried the eagle

In a little box

He threw the eagle

Off the county docks

In the water floated the eagle

Then it slowly sunk

The man thought to himself

"What I did really stunk"

Thus he did to himself

The pain he did to the bird

This he thought was all he could do

For being such a mean turd

He began by starvation

And he did this until he could do no more

Grabbed a roped and weight

And went out the door

He went to the same river

The eagle was thrown into

He was ready to do

To throw himself in too

He bound his ankles

With the weights and rope

Before the jump he thought

"This won’t hurt, I hope"

And this is the end

Of poacher and eagle

What has been done

And why it’s illegal

This fateful day

Of eagles and men

Has brought two lives

To a disturbing end
