Thanks but no thanks

High school freshman year was starting next week, Brooke and her friends were on a trip in Miami Beach, Florida. It was a tradition for teenagers to go to Miami in the last week of summer. Most of the nights guys and girls met at the beach to have some fun. On Wednesday night, Brooke and her friends didn’t have any plan, so they decided to go to the beach. When they got there, they realized they didn’t know anyone, so they planned to play a game, “Dares”. As the game started, Ana dared Sophia to talk in French with a group of guys. Isabell asked Doris to creep out a guy by making funny animal noises, and Haley asked Brooke to go with the most popular senior guy in high school, have a conversation with him and jump every three seconds. Sophia and Doris finished their dare in about 5 minutes, but Brooke just kept talking to the guy, Daniel. It was getting late, the girls were still on the beach hanging out with some guys they met there, and Brooke was still with Daniel, he had told her that he wanted to meet her again, Brooke just smiled and assured that they’ll meet again. When Brooke got to the hotel, she got a Facebook message from Daniel, telling her that he had a lot of fun and that he wanted to invite her the next day. The next day, Daniel arrived to Brooke’s hotel and took her to a restaurant in the center of the city. All weekend they hung out together, they went to the beach, to the cinema, to the mall, and at the end of the trip, Daniel told Brooke how he felt about her.

It was the first day of high school, Brooke was nervous to see Daniel. When she arrived to school she walked with her friends to class. On the lunch break they realized the cafeteria was divided by sections, the popular, the geeks, the weirds, the hippies and obviously “the normal ones”. Brooke saw Daniel sitting in the popular section, she didn’t wanted him to see her with no place to sit, so she directly went on the normal section with all of her friends. As they were eating, Doris was trying to hear the gossip of the other group of girls, Katie, Samantha, and Jessica, she heard something about Daniel. On the evening, Brooke and the girls met at the café, to talk about their first day. Doris told their friends what she heard in the cafeteria, that Katie dated Daniel all summer, and that it was getting official. Brooke freaked out and didn’t know what to do, so she said she would pretend that she didn’t know anything. That night, Daniel called Brooked and asked her out, they went to an Italian restaurant, and Brooke told Daniel about what Doris heard in the cafeteria, Daniel with security said that that was only a rumor. Brooke believed him and kept dating him, but she stared to feel anger against Katie because she sometimes saw her trying to talk to Daniel. Five weeks later, Daniel broke up the relationship with Brooke and days after Daniel and Katie announced on Facebook that they were in a relationship. Brooke was so heartbroken, she stopped hanging out with her friends, she ate just a little bit and she nearly laughed, Brooke couldn’t stare at Katie for a second, she hated her so much. As the weeks went by, people started noticing that Daniel didn’t treat Katie in a good way, everyone said that he treated her horrible. Katie broke up with him and decided not to see him again. One month later, at Vanessa’s party, Katie and Brooke got to have a conversation. They discussed about the things Daniel did to them, about how he was dating both of them at the same time and the way he hided it. They realized that Daniel had the fault of everything, they forgave each other and kept in contact. By coincidence, the next semester they had English, Math and Drama class together, that made them to become closer friends, time later they became best friends, no one could keep them apart. Both of them never spoke to Daniel again, all they wanted to say to him was “thank you for finding my best friend for me, but no thanks I’ll never date you again!”
