MEMORIES OF MAMA

Oh how i miss mama on this mothers day.
and how i miss her tender voice as she knelt to pray.
there on her knees she would pray oh Lord,
please hear my humble prayer please keep my children safe,
and sound  through your loving care.
the tears roll down her loving face,
as she knelt there alone, she would pray oh Lord.
please let me live until all my children are grown.
she would say amen, and dry her eyes.
and with a great big smile she'd tell us all how much
she loved us. and then we would sing awhile.
we'd sing some songs and have a prayer,
and read a verse or two, then she'd say children,
gather around there's something I must tell you.
she would say real soon you'll all be married,
 with families of you'er own.
my work on earth will all be done,
 and i'll be going home.
then a smile would cross her loving face as she held us close,
she would say children, next to God you'er the ones that I love most.
and i wish you children would promise me,
 before it is too late.
that someday you will meet your Mother,
 beside that pearly gate.
I'll wait beside the gate for you,
and count the days until then.
when Jesus calls his children home,
 and we'er together again.
 now Mama's gone,so what can i do.
but turn to Jesus, for he loves me too.
and someday i'll see her in Heaven high.
when again Mama and I shall  walk side by side.

Author's Notes/Comments:

my Mother always tried to raise her children to serve God she would pray with us every day and this poem is my memories of her.
