Right Instincts

Bravery might be a short-sighted woe
at times when not thinking,
seeing someone in need
I guess we have this blind ambition
urgency to help without hesitation

Our own cost of justice upon what we saw
without restraint for the mind in a test
to fully digest any consequences
we must take time for it to impress

but, once seen, once saw,
once raw information progresses
and the pooling adrenaline flows,
instincts take over and we fight or flee

Only one night in jail where I spent time
thinking about it from every angle
and let me say that I'm unrepentant
I'd fight for right to prevail and
be happy that God's law is higher.
