I ASKED THE QUESTION

COUNTRY POEMS

                All the thoughts were going

                around in my head.

I had not been able to sleep in my bed for

                a long while.

               I asked the question.

A phone number, I could not dial.

A mile I could not walk.

               I could not talk.

A boat after a long trip, that could not dock.

               I asked the question.

               The day was done.

               The evening was fun.

               I could hear her breathing.

               The sun had gone down.

               I asked the question.

              Tonight, at the park.

The park right next to a track with trolleys going by.

        Look at that night sky.

     "My oh my!"

        The moon big and bright.

        An amazing sight.

            I asked the question.

You see, I was down on a knee.

There see, a part of me, that wanted to run away and flee.

A part that wanted the morning sun to come.

Then, again things would be fun.

             I asked the question.

                A tear, my face hit.

                he park, the moon lit.

                My ear heard the answer.

That park night, we were the only dancers.

                I asked the questions.

The question on our both lips.

A soft kiss and a carress.

A kiss long and filled with fire.

A feeling getting higher and higher.

                I asked the question.

A story told and life that could now unfold.

She said we would be wed.

All the thoughts going on in my head.

Today, I am not going to sleep in my bed.

                My life, a new way.

My life, a new game to play.

                Oh, I asked the question.

                 Yeah, I asked the question.
