FAMILY STORIES

They are told all around, and up and down.

Sometimes they are lost.  Sometimes they are found.

They can be changed.  They can be rearranged.

They can be subtracted to or added to.

      Sometimes, they are padded.

      Family people like to talk.

      They will talk and talk.

They will talk and talk and talk.

They will talk no end, like you are their best friend.

       Sometimes, the stories have rhymes.

Sometimes, the stories have the gestures of mimes.

       Sometimes, with sounds.

       Sometimes, with different voices.

Yep, in telling the stories, they have a lot of choices.

Aunt Em and Uncle Henry hate to wait.

Those betting on a wedding lost.

Into the car, everything they tossed,

      They eloped.

Grandma Doris was in a chorus in Moscow, Russia with

      a man named Boris.

Grandpa was in the war, esaped from a prison camp. swam a river, got a bit damp.

Cousin Emma's dilemma was 10 boys asking her to

   the same dance.

Mom and dad on their first date, got home late.

Mom's dad was irrate, him dad did irritate.

              Family stories.

After 5,000 times, there is a moan and a groan.

They told at the table, sometimes as a fable.

They told at night, designed to cause a fright.

The stories go around and around in your head,

      as you lay in bed.

         Oh, family stories.

         Yeah, family stories.
