A Pop Song

You’re in white

She’s In white
I’m in Red
Empty Words
Empty Bottles
Empty Heads

(What if I showed up, and we were all just- happy?)
(What if I showed up, and ruined the whole day?)
(What if I showed up, and nothing happened at all?)

We always talked of the day would meet
I’d see you, and you’d see me
Hugs all around, joy and love and laughter
witty words exchanged, what more could we be after?

But I know, it’s not the same for you
Now I know, it’s not the same for you two
Now I know, it’s my own world I’ve sentenced myself to

What else can I do?

I could sing for my dinner,
Dance for my lunch,
Cause a big stir when I kiss both the brides on a hunch

No ornamental grass I could I send
It’s inappropriate, what kind of message would that send?
Probably the opposite of what I’d want it to,
But if it’s your favourite I’d send the one that's blue…

She looked so lady like
And you like, you belonged
And if you’re happy
All the words I say must be wrong

When you get what you want,
You don’t want it anymore
I’ll have to find a new direction,
Pick myself up off this tear-soaked floor

Is it too late, to invite you to my wedding?
I’d love to meet your bride, if she won’t find it too upsetting.
I’d really be honoured if you both, would  share my special day
That is, if you’re not content on staying, my best friend who got away

You’re in white
She’s In white
I’m in Red
Empty Words
Empty Bottles
Empty Heads
