My Grandfather's Piano

My Grandfather kept his piano at the entrance of his house, he wanted everyone to see it, he used to put photos on top of the piano so that everyone that came into the house would see some pictures about his family. The piano was very special for my grandfather, the piano was with him the day he married my grandmother, the day he saw his first daughter, the day he bought his very first house. It was a really old piano, it was very big and black, I remember that when I was a child I loved to sit on my grandfather’s lap and listen to him playing some marvelous notes. He loved to have people in his house, he was always inviting friends for dinner or for lunch, and when they were about to leave, he would give them a treat for the ride. I loved being on my grandfather’s house because it was full of joy and happiness. My grandfather was a very admirable man and he was also a very intelligent person. When he was six years old he had a problem with an eye and needed to be attended by a doctor, his family had no money so they went to the public hospital. When they arrived to the hospital they attended my grandfather very badly and at the end, it turned out to be worst, they left my grandfather blind when he was only six years old.  When he turned 15 years old he started working because his mother got sick and was unable to work, so there was no other choice, he needed to work to sustain his mother. Blind, young and poor was what everyone saw of my grandfather, but then a business man gave him the chance to work for him, He was a very important person and had a really nice taste for classical music, this was when my grandfather fell in love with the music. As he was blind, he could not get into regular schools, he could not attend a university. But this never stopped him, He managed to study 3 different degrees along his life, He fought until he achieved that all blind persons could enter a regular school. He made his way to the University of Mexico and started to work there, and that is when he met my grandmother. While he was growing up, he met very important persons that were always favoring him, he met a lot of business mans, teachers, politicians etc. And they were always inviting my grandfather to their reunions to play the piano for them. He used to play the piano everyday; he loved to sing songs to my grandmother. Music was his life. Even though he was blind, the way he played the piano was something that anyone who met my grandfather will never forget. He loved his piano until the day he died; now he is resting in peace as the big, black, beautiful piano is in my house.
