Rollin Smokes

I'm rockin the boat
Rollin smokes dealin hope
To the hopeless
Kids these days in enough mess
Penniless kids drop out directionless
Kids are under nuff stress
That's why leavin school is so bless
But that shouldnt make them less
In your eyes
Your the one who caged their skies
The one who stopped them when they tried
They're stressed out and messed up cos of your lies
That break a fragile mind

I'm wishing
this system
Wasn't full of contradiction
Chaotic like hells kitchen
Ambition factored into every single decision
But with no vision
So focused on their feet
And the targets they meet
They never feel the beat
They never feel complete
And this is the key
To why they can't see
They are killing us
In such a rush
They don't care who's crushed
Who's snuffed out
And we are left
Broken and battered
Limbs twisted bones shattered
And it matters
Because it is our protectors
Who did this our jailers
Who push us nearer
To the abyss
I'm not normally angry but I switch
When business is placed above happiness
And I get so damn vexed
When I see what's comin next
And I won't rest
While this is going on
I'm not singing revolutionary songs
I am not just one man
I am preaching now
I'm telling people how
And I'm teaching now
Reaching out to the lost
no matter the cost
I'm tossing out the information
They need to make their own
Revolution
Their own homeland
Because I can
I'm not just one man

And I'm rollin smokes
Never choking
Havin a toke before
I deal hope to the hopeless
Kids these days in enough mess
Penniless kids drop out directionless
Kids are under nuff stress
That's why leavin school is so bless
but that shouldnt make them less in your eyes
Your the one who caged their skies
The one who stopped them when they tried
They're stressed out and messed up cos of your lies
That can break a fragile mind

You are feared
Sneered at and hated
By those who reared you
Old men leer and declaim girls
Saying what they were is shameful
And the lads they hate you
They see you give ratings
To the bloke who broke
A man for looking at his girl
In your world that's justified
They would be suprised
If they knew you weren't all like that
You aren't obsessed with being cool
Or playing the fool but you aren't tools
Either you are all individual
And this repetitive ritual
Is getting ridicularse
This is like a circus
You can't be serious
They won't mug you soon as look at you
and that's the truth
you are demonising the youth
and you say they are uncouth
and unlearned that they get everything
and none of it is earned
but that's not right
because every night
at your desk you write
all of those stereotypes
and propgate the hatred
and it comes as a shock
on the prime time news slot
you hear that kids are misunderstood a lot when your the very fucking reason
Despite the report you keep on
Being scared of them stealing
your phone when you steal away oppurtunity.
Surely I'm not the only one who sees this hypocrisy?

So vexed again
I'm sat on the step
Having a rest
Waiting for the next chance
To rock the boat
Rollin smokes dealin hope
To the hopeless
Kids these days in enough mess
Penniless kids drop out directionless
Kids are under nuff stress
That's why leavin school is so bless
But that shouldnt make them less
In your eyes
Your the one who caged their skies
The one who stopped them when they tried
They're stressed out and messed up cos of your lies
That break a fragile mind

So now I'm speakin out
Spitting out loud
Spreading around
The reality of this city
Its a pity but some won't
Listen to me but if you want to
Then this is what you should do
reach out to a young person
Don't hesitate because that hurts them
And maybe then you will see the beauty
Of what can be of what they can see
See me I'm standard I'm just a reenager
But the looks I get fill me with rage
People take a look at me, guess my age
And then pull out a blank page
And they write violent and stupid and drugged up
Its enough to make a greater man laugh
But I don't like being the last one
You ask for directions, the first you suspect
Of doing wrong, one you feel won't connect
With you, you ignore me like a rotten tooth
And like that you wish I was removed
But its not my personality that's crude
If my image was renewed in this media capital
Then you would be rapidly changing your view
And see me in a new light and its not just me its everyone that you see
when your alone and on your own and you look at those two hoodies in pure fear
put your head down as they get near
and its clear to them what you think
This city stinks of uninformed opinioms
Filled with the minions of the mass media
And your view is dictated by the industry leader
Its time to break free
Its time to really be
You can choose to cruise along
Be spoon fed your choices
Or you can shoot for the moon
Come down to reading town
At night ill show you a new life
Ill show you drama and tragedy
Ill show you insanity and comedy
Ill show you what freedom means
Ill show you the world as it is
Ill show you the puppets and strings
The pupeteer and his grin
So come down to reading down
Ill show you the sights
And well stay up all night
And it feels so right
Flying as high as a kite
And some of us are pissed off
But they are the minority
And its minor reason being
We are having so much fun not sleeping
Because we are breathing in cheap fags
And the lads are plucking the courage
Some are dads some have barely held hands
There's a man on the street corner
Selling you whatever he can
In little clear plastic bags
To make the world that bit brighter
And there is the click of a thousand plastic lighters
They are so happy living they don't think about dying
They aren't all laughing but they are living hard
And I can see the truth dawn in your eyes
And you are seeing the sights
Understanding how bright the lights of us young ones can be and it is only right because we put up with all this stigma
Like the hari krishba we are famous for the noice and not what the voice has to say and now make a choice. Will you join me?
Because I will write you a poem
And you can sleep knowing
You have unraveled what is going
On at the park when the days end
And the kids meet with their friends
And they lend eachother a smoke
Or a spliff or a light and toke
Or drink and you can think
They are not so strange
Or maybe you will change
If you do. Come find me
Well go down in the hottest flames
Well carve our names
Wake up and do it again
And the fun ends only because of time
There is a place we go there is a line
And after that we get to serious, unkind
Our happiness is all we want to find
But we are only unhappy
Because we remember, see?
Remember the feeling of freedom
The man who thought he was a don
The past has been and gone
And we are not the only one
So let's break the cycle
One man at a time for a while
But it will grow and expand
And one day the boy will be a man
Teach truth to everyone he can
He will stand up for the generation that came after
He will crush the stigma and he will charter a new course for these two generations a brand new world.

But we are not there yet
And to get there we need to prepare
We need to malke people care

The only difference between the young and the old is age.

So I'm rolling smokes
Having a toke
Rocking ther boat
Dealing hope
I will make you care
I will rearange you
I will change you
I will make you realise
That looking past the lies
We are no different you and I
