The Meerkat and the Camel

The Meerkat and the Camel

It was a very sunny and hot day in the beautiful Sahara desert. There was a lot of sand and for sure there was no water. The temperature had increased in the last few years. The human being was the responsible of this situation, he just cared about himself and didn´t take care for the planet at all. Every animal was waiting for the sun to come down so they could finally seek for food and water. It was very difficult to survive on the surface. The Meerkat was very calm because he didn´t have to worry about the hot weather, he lived underground were everything was better.  On the other hand, there was a poor camel that was almost dying, he was anorexic, he hadn´t eaten in weeks. He was very thirsty because the last time he drank any water was with the last rain.

One day, everything underground began to get difficult. There was no space for any other animal underground and the food started to finish. No one wanted to wait for the sunset in order to look for food on the surface. One day the Meerkat decided to go to the surface and he found the thin camel. They talked to each other and they found out that the problem with the camel was that he didn´t have enough food in order to keep his hump that gave him water and the strength that he needed. The Meerkat came up with an amazing idea. He said: “I want to get rid of those animals that are disturbing the little peace that I have underground. I could make them go out to the surface so you can gain some weight … if you know what I mean”. That was the most amazing idea the camel has heard about in the last few weeks. They planed their actions really well and everything was settled for the next morning, when the camel was gaining back his hump.

The Meerkat told the other animals that were underground that there was a dead camel on the surface and if they hurried up they wouldn´t have to starve anymore. The animals reached the surface and they were surprised by a big hungry camel that eat them all. After a few weeks the camel gained back his hump. He uses the fat that he has in there when he needs to travel long distances and he has no water to drink. This is how camels survive in the desert.

The moral of the story is this: When things get hard you should never give up. You must fight your own battles and if you can´t you must look for help, battles are easier to fight when you have help. At the end you will be happy because you got what you wanted despite how hard it was to get.
