The Best Times Of My Life

I wish nothing ever would have changed,

That we could have stayed exactly the same,

My best friend in the whole wide world,

And though we can't talk like we used to,

I'm sure you all will always fondly recall the memories of how things used to be.

Driving in your car for all hours, any day or night;

Never caring about the destination,

Simply enjoying the journey.

Letting tomorrow worry about itself,

As we concentrated on having fun just us the way we were.

My Grandma has long gone and you helped me through it all (I still wish you could've had a large Italian meal with us all)

And some of our time together was kind of rocky,

But I want you to know I will always think of you

And always remember as my best friend from the teenage years.

Because I don't think things could have ever been better, than they were when you were with me.

I now see what people mean when they say the teenage years,

Are the best and the worst times of your life;

Because although undoubtedly they were the very best

But seeing you reluctantly, and without any other choice, walk out of my life

Was the very worst because it tore at my heart more than anyone could ever know.

So thank you eternally, you know who you are;

For making my life so great and giving me memories to last a lifetime,

Summer to me will forever be eating chips, driving and late-night shopping in the sun with you,

I miss those days and I miss you; and if I could go back in time it would be to those days

But now I know I have to move on, grow up and take on some responsibility. But I don't want to.

I long for those days to be back again, but they never will.

Will they?
