Got Away
As we reminisce on our time together we laugh, we cry due to the ups and downs between you and I.
We revisit our past thoughts and still conclude we belong apart and we both know why.
Despite the years and distance between us we still hold a sacred part in each others hearts.
Our history allowed us to celebrate what we had but also aid us in quickly discovering any potential mix matches before they start.
I fully appreciate the lessons we taught one another on all days including good and bad.
Maturity and growth allows us to appreciate the here and now and move on from what we prevously had.
I know from your current actions instead of your words that you often want to revisit the idea of potentially capturing the magic we had again one day.
But my memory is not distorted, the nights full of tears allows me to leave the good nostalgia where it is and embrace the fact that I am the one that got away.
