Untitled -- 4.12.2005

You don't know

your face is to the north

seeking fulfilment

Why do you not turn to the west?

there is rest beyond the waters

death into life everlasting

Why do you not turn to the east?

there is tomorrow beyond the horizon

resurrection and new life of dawn

But to the north you face and desire

forsaking all loves that loved first

why have you forgotten what you once were?

Vanity of vanities is what you have become

seeking the world, and its ways

you no longer remember

You walk to the north and i call to you

you want the world, wordly love, acceptance

yet in your quest for acceptance, you are isolated

Do you not know?

to the north lies false joy

then the journey south to hell

Author's Notes/Comments:

The person is a Christian (a girl). The speaker wants the girl to look either west (representing death and Heaven) or east (representing the return of Christ and the resurrection of the dead). If you travel either west or east, you'll always travel in that direction. They both are eternal. Instead, she looks to the north (the ways of the world) which is not eternal and leads to hell taking advantage of you being away from Christ (represented by the south). Walk north and soon you are walking south. I used north to represent the world because the world is "fun" and we are attracted to that high. Going north, you're going up, but leads to a downward journey.  This is to a Christian friend of mine who was going through this at the time of writing. No, I don't believe you can lose your salvation.
