Waves of Despair

You hold such a hard and damaged heart,

in those hands of yours.

So tough and calloused,

yet somehow you can make it so brittle.

You don't seem to understand,

just how little it takes from you,

to tear the still seeping scars,

as you fumble it about.

Your not understanding, what I try to say,

telling you the little things you can do,

to make this undiminished daily struggle,

that much easier to go through.

You leave me verging on tears,

as I choke on the laughter I can't sustain,

how can you help me,

when you won't help yourself.

Don't you get it yet?

the mess you've wrought,

is something I have to suffer from everyday,

and to hear you can't even step yourself upon,

that long and twisted pathway,

leading you to better days,

bringing us to something good,

but maybe...... maybe someday.

Maybe before you neglect me into the past,

before there is nothing for you anymore,

just maybe while I still hold some hope,

you'll come around to reality,

and realize that all the while,

I've been offering it to you.

Why won't you grab the rope,

before you fuck up our lives,

every time you refuse to believe,

whenever you slap away,

my simple gift of hope.
