If I Be Lifted Up

The Cross hath drawn all men to Christ

Yet many will deny

The awesome power now reveiled

From Crowned on yonder high

Power and compassion

Death and Victory

Not oft are they companions

Yet, here are beautifully

"If I be lifted up," he said

The meathod seemed so grim

But he knew what holiness demanded

To draw lost men to him

"It is finished," were his final words

Then they laid him in the ground

The heart of the earth could not contain him

3 days later he was homeward bound

To bring his own sweet precious blood

To sprinkle on the mercy seat

Propitiation for my sins

Redemptions plan is now complete

Now I see him high and lifted up

Because he paid the mighty cost

It's time I count my losses gain

And take up my own rugged cross!
