Sparkling Kolkata

Kolkata sparkles this October night

All dwellers woes have taken flight

Children light up earthen 'diyas'

Parents and elders look lovingly

7 p.m. its time for the fireworks

Lit with wonder lit with happiness

Lovers hold a sparkler together

Enjoying the dark moonless night

Who says that we reel under woes

When Kali arrives all woe goes 

With two hands she kills with glee

The other two blesses us you see

 Kali idols now stand proudly at Kolkata pandals. Actual Puja starts 9 p.m. and shall carry on to midnightThis is the end (:() of the festive season. Only 'Bhaiphonta' remains.. It will be on Sat'day (25th Oct) On this day brothers are given 'tilaks' by sisters.It is a very very happy occasion. Small gifts are exchanged (clothes) followed by a super lunch and/or dinner ... Great place this Kolkata (India) This morning as I was trudging to the local bazaar I saw drums beating before Kali idol and a young 25ish young man was playing a two foot synthesiser... I paused, looked for quite some time , listened and went on my way
