Summer Heat

What I wanted to write

I did not know

A tiny seed of some sort

I wanted to sow

I saw the children wilt

In hot humid midsummer

Lazy wive's tongues wagging

Trying hard to keep their glamour

Dusty,faded green leaves

Tiredly gazing up to heaven

Oh ! sprinkle a few raindrops

Bathe the souls they're given

Ice-cream man push carting his ware

Thirsty children throng to him

Quenching their thirst and desire

Happiness overflows the brim

Welcoming juicy red watermelons

Chilled "dahibaras" on a platter

Mid-April or early-May heat

With such delicacies does it matter?
