Why? Lure of money?or simply intoxicating adventure?
Teenagers of Kolkata gaming online--- forming rock bands
Loud music,booming drums,liquor flowing free
Wondering at silent moments they're not Indian tree
Motorola,Samsung,LG,Nokia,Simoco,CDMA and GPRS
Diwali and Christmas cards replaced by animated MMSs
"Thank you for using our ATM-- Have a nice day!"
"Please press star to continue" the voice on the IVRS
So melodious yet so dry and formal the lady's voice
Can we shut ourselves from these? Do we have choice?
Assuring a hot cup of coffee anytime of day or night
The coffee vending machine has evolved for Gennext

Twiggling the TV remote the couch potato saw it all
Homely knitted family has almost become history
Kids listening to Granny's tales... soft woven tapestry

People have become machines who can't play their own cards
Beauty of virgin nature minting money from tourists
Those who can't afford curse with clenched fists
The void in the chest... the yearning in the heart
Thousands of children died in the world added to the chart
Amazing maze of half-truth politics in the six-decade democracy
Are Indians still united? Or is it my fleeting fancy ?
Coolies(Porters) clad in uniforms carrying luggage at railway station
How do we behave with them? Do we express any emotion?
The maid wearily scrubbing scorched pots and pans
Does her employer ever notice the melancholy in her glance?
The Ipod, the thinkpad,the touch-screen on the palm-top
In which direction are we going ? ,will the 2014 plans flop?
Hybrid motor cars,playback smart plasma TV,wireless mouse
All dream to own these gadgets to decorate the house

Large sums of money shields them from petty worries

Results shall be evident very soon we shall see
Rich culture, heritage, democracy, freedom
Human hearts grown in labs - yet flowers do bloom
As lon as the sun rises hope will never gloom
Hopeful of the future inside the 2014 egg
Let's try to pray for one thing - can we not beg?
Strength to bear human losses and failures
Peace and good sense to free man from these vultures !
