Two Magic puzzles.

Two Magic Puzzles.

While doing my weekly shopping in Dartford I walked to the market place to see if anything new was on sale. One stall caught my eye a placard with the words Magic Puzzles for sale. At the bottom of the placard were a few words written by someone whose spelling was not up to a very high standard. Bye at your one risks. I looked for a few seconds and decided it was, (Buy at your own risk.) I am a sucker for anything magic and bought not one but two of the so-called magic puzzles. Back home I placed the two puzzles on the table and prepared my lunch.

After lunch I decided to start putting one of the puzzles together. The puzzle was like any ordinary puzzle but without a picture to guide or help one to complete it. Slowly piece after piece I fitted together until a picture of a large black cat appeared. The cat’s face filled the square out with what appeared to be a nasty grin. I sat looking at the puzzle and wondered what was magic about it. Then it happened the picture disappeared and a large black cat rubbed itself against my legs. The cat purred away making a noise similar to a motorbike. Now this was indeed magic. A puzzle that turned into a black cat that was rubbing against my legs it was uncanny to say the least.

I opened a tin of sardines and put a saucer of watered milk down for the cat. After all I thought I couldn’t let it go hungry. The cat looked at me and opened its mouth, “You do not expect me to eat this a tin of sardines and watered milk to drink. I am used to liver cooked nicely in a dob of butter and to drink nothing but fresh cream.” With these words the cat disappeared. I never saw it again. My eye fell upon the other puzzle. I just could not resist opening the box and put the puzzle together. The first puzzle had turned out to be a real magic puzzle what would this puzzle be? I hope not another cat.

Piece after piece carefully I took my time and soon had the puzzle finished this time the picture was of an aviary full of birds. The same thing happened as with the first puzzle the picture disappeared and a flock of lovely coloured birds filled my kitchen. The birds flew here and there some settling on the old Welsh Dresser other on the table. Even the pictures hanging on the wall made a good resting place. I wondered what I should do with birds from an aviary. If I opened the door and the window to let them fly off free would it be a wise thing to do? Suddenly the birds all spoke in chorus. “We cannot stay here a large black cat is here at home.” The birds vanished now all I had was two boxes that the magic puzzles were in. Two empty boxes is not enough proof to convince any one that I had really bought two magic puzzles. No one was with me as I put the puzzles together so I cannot ask you to believe my little story of the two magic puzzles. Bern
