No More Fairies.

No More Fairies.

There is a story going around Fairyland that soon there will be no more Fairies. Who started this story no one seems to know. I myself when I heard this silly rumour thought that the Pixies or even the Trolls had put the story around just to aggravate the Fairies. I heard the story from the Wise Old Owl that sits on a bough high in the old oak tree. The Owl had heard the story from some Robins. Robins are usually good messengers and only pass on messages if asked to by Her Majesty Queen Feeanna or perhaps by myself.

It did not take long before some Fairies approached me to ask if the story was true. They were most concerned where would they go? What was the reason for them to leave Fairyland? I laughed and told the Fairies that they should not listen to such silly rumours someone was having a good laugh at the expense of the Fairies. I could not convince the Fairies that it was just a rumour and they went away with their shoulders drooping. Gone were the sprightly steps that the Fairies take. No more laughing or smiling faces.

Even the animals had been taken in by this rumour and all were unhappy to know that soon there would be no more Fairies in Fairyland. Who would give them the delicious Fairy Cakes? Or when it was a bad harvest year who would give the animals the extra sweet hay or those lovely acorns that many animals eat during the long winter months. Who will warn the animals when strangers are about?

Then another rumour started the Fairies would be taken by space ships to other planets. This rumour I thought was the silliest that I had ever heard and I laughed out loud when I heard this. I decided to hold a meeting in the clearing by the old oak tree. Robins I sent off to tell all both the animals and the Fairies, Pixies and Trolls. I prepared a small lecture to tell the animals and all of the little people that all of these silly rumours were just a lot of hot air put around by someone that wanted to have a joke at the expense of the Fairies.

The evening arrived and most of Fairyland both animals and the Little Folk turned up. I told them all in a firm voice that all of these silly rumours were to stop. I told them of the dire punishment that would follow if and when I caught the rumourmonger. The bright blue flash of light told me that Her Majesty had arrived in the clearing. Her Majesty spoke a few words. The Fairies will not leave Fairyland and the talk of space ships to take the Fairies to other planets was just more nonsense. Her Majesty knew who it was spreading the rumours and there would be many Trolls sent back to Scandinavia. Those sent back to Scandinavia would no longer be allowed to enter Fairyland. Her Majesty waved her magic wand and an orchestra of Toads marched into the clearing playing dance music. All were now happy and the animals went about their business and the Little Folk had a wonderful evening of dancing. Bern
