Dream Land.

Dreamland.

Today was an exceptional day. Everywhere that I went in Fairyland all I saw were serious faces. No one smiled no one greeted me. My greetings were not returned and I began to wonder if I had upset the Fairies. It was a Leprechaun that told me what was wrong and why no one smiled or even answered my greetings. It seems that the whole of Fairyland’s little people were having bad dreams. Many cried out in their sleep as if they were very frightened. Others slept in fits and starts only to wake with the memory of a very bad dream.

I asked a few discreet questions such as what did the Fairies eat before going to bed. What drinks were available to them? I could find nothing wrong with the food and drink all was as it should be. This was indeed very puzzling to me and I was determined to get an answer as to what was causing these bad dreams or nightmares. I tried to get the fairies to tell me something about their dreams but I could not find any Fairy that would speak to me.

That evening I went to bed rather early. I always drink a cup of warm chocolate before I go upstairs and it was not long before my eyes closed I realised that I was rather tired. One bad dream followed another until I finally awoke. Looking at my alarm clock I saw that it was two o’clock in the early morning. I was wet from sweat all over my body. One dream stuck in my mind. I was on a boat rowing down a river the boat slowly filled with water and began to sink. I jumped into the water of the river and tried to swim to the banks. It was as if I was swimming in treacle. I could not use my arms and legs to swim my way to dry land. I felt awful and thankfully woke before I reached the safe banks of the river.

These dreams were with me for a week with each night worse than the other. If the Fairies and other people in Fairyland were having dreams as bad as mine then it was time to find out the cause of these terrible dreams that we were all having. A new Factory had opened on the Heath at Dartford during the day all was well but at night clouds of chemicals were set free by the owner of the Factory. It was these clouds of chemicals that were causing the whole of Fairyland to have such bad dreams.

It did not take long before the Human population that lived near the Heath found out about the chemical clouds being set free at night. The owner of the Factory was taken before a court of law and had to close the Factory since then all is well again no more Fairies with long faces. Greetings were exchanged again and all got back to normal. My bad dreams are a thing of the past and I sleep well with my cup of warm chocolate in the evening. Bern
