The Nuisance.

Some say the man is a nuisance, others that he is a menace. Myself I have no opinion, it is not my way to judge someone because they do not conform with the main trends of modern day way of living. The man appears to be happy enough; he is not violent and has the nerve to tell all that will listen that he has seen the Fairies on Dartford Heath.

Now he holds long lectures on Fairies and how dangerous it would be if the Fairies decided to take over the world. Fairies use magic they can turn anyone or any thing into something completely different. He carries with him a piece of carved wood that has some resemblance to a cat. If one were to really study the piece of wood one could possibly with a little imagination see the shape of a cat. The man claims that he was walking in the woods on Dartford Heath with his pet cat. The cat attacked a fairy and the Fairy with its magic wand turned the cat into this clump of wood that did have a slight semblance to a cat.

I will not say that the man is suffering from some kind of mental illness but this wooden likeness to a cat he shows to everyone. I have heard him telling people on busses and on the train even in the shopping stores in and around Dartford the man is well known in the area most ignore him occasionally he will find someone to listen to his tale of his cat attacking a Fairy and of the Fairies defence. The wooden likeness to a cat is now well polished by the many hands that have held and thoroughly inspected this cat like shape, Most walk away shaking their heads at what they thought was the man’s illness. I did hear one group saying the man is as nutty as a fruitcake.

One day I broached the subject with Her Majesty Queen Feeanna Queen of all the Fairies. Her Majesty listened to my telling of the man with his supposed attack of his cat against a Fairy and of the Fairy using magic to turn the cat into a wooden likeness. Her Majesty smiled, then she turned serious Oh! No. Not another such tale of a fairy or Fairies turning animals into wooden objects. All Fairies can fly and even disappear if they were in danger, not one would ever dream of turning an animal into block of wood no matter how well formed the wood was.

Suddenly her Majesty and I were in the middle of town. I followed Her Majesty into a Public house. I ordered for myself a glass of beer and for Her Majesty a small glass of Sherry.

Standing at the bar was the man with his wooden cat. He loudly spoke of the cat attacking a Fairy and of the Fairy using a magic wand to turn his cat into this piece of wood. Her Majesty had heard enough. The man stopped talking to the two men at the bar and sauntered over to the table where Her Majesty and I were sitting. Off he started with exactly the same words that he used while telling the two men at the bar about his cat attacking a Fairy. Her Majesty held out her hand and the wooden clump became alive and a lovely cat with long wool and deep blue eyes made itself comfortable in her, Majesties arms. The loud purring of the cat could be heard all over the public house. The man stood gaping at what was a chunk of wood, now a most beautiful longhaired cat nestled in her Majesties arms. The man could not believe what he had just seen. He stuttered that is not my cat. A Fairy turned my cat into a chunk of wood. I want my wood back. I cannot tell my story without my wood. The Landlord of the Public House came over to the table where her Majesty and I were sitting and said. I hope that my Bessie is not bothering you. Normally she does not go to strange people you must be privileged for her to choose you.

The man with the wood shaped like a cat has never been seen in town again. It is believed that he went else where with another piece of wood. Possibly shaped like some animal and that he is bothering other people in another town, either that or he has been admitted to a hospital where such illnesses are taken care of. He has not been seen in Dartford again.
