Her Majesties Quarrel with Mother Nature.

Her Majesties Quarrel with Mother Nature.

Wintertime again in fairyland, all were sad as they saw the trees shedding their leaves. Many fairies said that it was waste. The trees had a hard time in Winter it was time that someone should do something about the sad loss of leaves. The trees were bare in the coldest time of the year. Why did Mother Nature allow such a thing to happen. The trees needed their leaves to keep them warm also to breath with; every Fairy knew that it was the trees that took in the nasty gasses and gave off oxygen.

The Fairy Queen , Queen Feeanna heard of the grumbling of the Fairies and decided to call on Mother Nature to see if anything could be done about the trees shedding all of their leaves in autumn.

A robbin was sent to look for Mother Nature and give her a message. The message was that her Majesty had something very important to see Mother Nature about. It took the robin three months to find and deliver the message to Mother Nature.

Mother Nature arrived in the middle of winter. The fairy Queen met her with the respect that all owe to Mother Nature. With a wave of her hand Queen Feeanna pointed to the bare trees. She spoke only one word. “Why.” Mother Nature smiled her wise smile and said, “Yes it is a shame that all of the leaves have to fall in the autumn.” You know that even the trees need a rest and this is the easiest way to allow them to sleep during the winter months to regain the energy they so urgently need when the spring comes.

Her Majesty knew that Mother Nature was right all things growing need rest to regain enough energy to carry on with their lives. Then a general conversation took place with her majesty saying that it was a shame that all of the trees should have to loose their leaves. Could not Mother Nature allow some trees to have leaves that do not fall off.

Idea after idea went through the minds of Mother Nature and The fairy Queen Feeanna then Mother Nature started to tell of an idea that had just flashed through her mind. It is the leaves that are the problem. Too much rain would curl them and render them useless but what if we had a leaf that did not curl up. Her Majesty was sewing a garment and looked at the needle she was using. “Mother Nature,” she called excitedly, “what about a leaf like this needle that I am using” “it will not curl up and never loose its shape it would be ideal for such a tree that does not loose its leaves in the cold winter months.” Mother Nature made a few trees grow in front of Queen Feeanna and a few trees were found to be just right. Then came the conifers and what we all now call a Christmas Tree. We can thank the observant Fairies noticing that the trees were bare of leaves in the cold winter months. Now we do have trees that have leaves all through the year.

It is not only the Fairies that are happy but all those many people that need a Christmas Tree at Christmas time.
