Mars Ahoi.

The space ship waiting high in the late afternoon sky was a small light travelling across the heavens. The newest idea was to fit air tight containers on to anti gravity pads and let them float high into the sky. These containers would then be attached to the space ship and towed behind it until they reached the red planet of Mars.

The huge containers were of course not empty, supplies and all that would be needed would be strung like a string of pearls behind the space ship. On a small scale this had already been tried out and a couple of small settlements had been placed on the Earth’s Moon.

I saw the last of these huge containers leaving the space port in Austria. Why Austria as many well know Austrian Mountains are as high as anywhere in the world and Austria has many Electronic Factories and many other Engineering firms. Also the Morals of the Austrian workers are very high one seldom sees a strike here. I watched the last container until it vanished in the twilight.

Films were shown every day of the huge space ship towing along this long strung out pearl of containers. Reports from the space ship’s crew came telling us that there were no problems and now one knows how easy it is soon there will be a ship towing even more containers.

During one such report of the progress of the ship with its containers, excited shouts came over the short wave radio. A calm voice took over the microphone. No need to panic we have been approached by an Alien ship. The ship tells us that they are short of supplies especially water. Can they approach Earth to take on supplies and the most precious water?

Government Officials did not want Aliens coming to earth God knows what illnesses they would bring with them. What form of arms they have. If they can travel through space they must be very advanced and probably have atomic weapons. On hearing that they were not to be allowed to land on the earth the Aliens changed course and it looked as if they would return to where they came from. During the night period they came back and cut one of the containers from the tow and went off in the night.

The aliens of course had no idea of what was in the container that they had taken but fortunately for them it was the container that I had seen rising on its antigravity pads from Austrian soil. We all knew that this last container was filled with fresh water and food supplies. The Aliens never came back. If they ever do, let us hope that they do not hold it against us because of the way the world government acted by refusing them landing permission for supplies of food and water.. This is your scribbler writing to tell you of the many advances made here in Austria that small mountain in its most beautiful scenery and fresh clean air here high up in the mountains. Bern
