Annual Fairies Ball.

Annual Fairies Ball.

A good time was had by all,

at the annual Fairies ball.

The invitations were sent out on time,

daintily written all in rhyme.

The Fairy Queen so it is said,

wrote them herself while lying in bed.

The Leprechauns were invited as well,

each wore a hat made of a winkle shell.

Pixies and Trolls appeared in force,

Most rode in on a winged horse.

The Fairies were all dressed in blue,

Each knew what they had to do.

Parsley wine served in goblets of gold,

Made the Pixies bothersome and bold.

To enforce some law and order,

Butterflies came from over the border.

Elves came in one’s and Two’s,

Complaining of their brand new shoes.

Dancing to the music of some crickets,

Couples moved slowly into the thickets.

Then the Fairy Queen cast a spell,

Stopping the music and couples as well.

I think that it may truthfully be said,

that all were glad to get home to bed.

At the next Annual Fairies Ball,

Pixies will not be invited at all.

I will be there of this I am sure,

unless they invite another Bernard Shaw.
