For Raven

(Dedicated to the memory of Edgar Allan Poe)

Dark vision…

Bird of my imagination...

Miles away I feel you…

Your song is in my dreams and

In my waking hours (the lonely hours),

You haunt me.

The continent is broad.

Between us… deserts and woods,

Mountains rise and laugh at my need.

Because I can not fly to you

Fly to me.

Dark Beauty..

If you hope for love,

Beg the wind to help you..

Pray the earth not hold you..

Hope that fire forsake you..

Fly to me.

I know your eyes and wings are dark,

But not your heart..

Raven won’t you find me?

Power your wings with love tonight,

My eager soul awaits your flight,

Oh my Raven, won’t you

Fly to me.

In my Raven hides a dove,

Her true feelings she is guarding,

She’ll slowly open her breast to love

For a lover she’s inviting.

Fly to me

Author's Notes/Comments:

Some native tribes believe that certain people can take on the form of common animals.

What if our spirit can do the same while we are dreaming?
