An asphalt river stretches out thin
Flowing about this desert that I’m in
Endless! Endless to my eyes!
Lined with poles on either side
Sinking into the distance
Meeting a reddish sky
Is the highway before me
Uncertain where it began,
I watch in amazement
As a terror known to be
Not knowing where I am
Takes me
Drive on and on!
Faster and faster!
With an infinity before me
Defying imagination
Leading to a destination
Becoming harder to find
Sinking with the sun
Dizzied by the lights at night
Rushing towards me, becoming one,
Gone
Lost in the excitement of velocity
I am warped into unconsciousness
While hoping to awaken once again
Not knowing what’s waiting at the end.
