At What Cost?

The face of the unity mocks me

With blissful ignorance

It stares st me uncomprehending

Through eyes of blue, green, brown and red

The perfectly powdered nose

Points to the sky above that I cannot see

Those of us so small live in this giants shadow

And perception can only be our own

It spares us a glance and our eyes

Are assaulted by beauty so blatant and sexless

And temptation is terribly great

The need to become one with it

To see the sky and bathe in the light of the sun

To have power and strength

To be a part of the raceless, sexless, senseless

Perfection above

The question that stops the ritual

Is suddenly important again, as my senses return to me

At what cost I ask myself

To become a molecule of the whole

To be a solitary sound wave

In the voice of the one

The cost is myself and those who matter

Those who live in a darker world

Where our sickening god we despise

But what we get in return

Is the ability to be many wholes

To control our own voices and actions

Instead of a world of trading brains and conforming

We propose a world where knowledge

Replaces their majority god

On the golden pedestal we all aim to reach
