The Butterfly Effect

The ebbing tide erodes the rocky bay

Its continuous flow maintains its hypnotic rhythm every day

The sea gulls are perched high among the sandy dunes

There white capped heads twinkle a top the misshapen ruins

The sun is beating down, there’s no shortage of its rays

The quick little crabs avoid beings everyone else’s prey

They scurry about and hide between the tumultuous rocks on shore

This pattern repeats itself every day, beneath the tumbling wavy floor

The consistency of this scene gives me comfort

Its beauty and iridescent radiance with its simplistic patterns find a way to touch me

It moves my being to get up and be me another day

Just like the natural adaptations of nature in time continue with no delay

The swirling foam lives in constant chaos, and yet is calm in an accepting watery way

It begs the question why be worrisome about the little things each day

The world will go on in continuous fashion no matter what you do or say

I’m not saying that one life is pointless

A butterfly effect is not all the outrageous

The actions you complete, the people you meet

Are all effected by you, and what you do or say

But aren’t I contradicting myself you say?

The world will not end or change its ways because of what you say

But you could very well changes someone’s day

The kindness and generosity you pour out on the world makes a difference

Wouldn’t it be cool if this pattern could continue?

As the waves rush in, they continue to shift the changing shore

There’s simplicity in pattern, but change is not too far

A continuous scene still has an effect, that grain of sand moves every which way

Who knows what it will come in contact with…

A particle of sand, is a lot like me and you

A drifting soul repeating an everyday dance

A individual seeking true meaning

A piece of the puzzle, a guest in a maze

A blade of grass caught in the waves

Who knows who you can touch with your kindness and love?

Let the waves take you every which way, and maybe one day…

The pattern continues, but maybe there is still hope for the butterfly effect
