Cleaning Up The Mess

You fall for it every time.

Never fails.

Never stops.

You take the bait.

You walk right into the trap.

This journal that I play,

Records a broken record.

Over and over I speak.

Yet you do not listen.

I warn you.

You don't heed my words.

Protecting you is damn near impossible.

Especially when you cling to the dangers

Like a child to its mother.

When things go good,

You forget I'm here.

When things go bad,

That's all that I hear.

You can't help how you feel or who you love.

For that, I blame you not.

All I ask is that you avoid the task.

Be careful of your steps.

Simply because I'm so tired of cleaning up the mess.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem for a friend of mine. I didn't mean by any means to offend her... I just think she needs to be more careful of her feelings. She knows that I love her dearly and that I don't want to see her get hurt.
