Black Rose of Death

Folder:
Death

Red rose of love, petals shiny and bright.
Dreams of a happy tomorrow.
Black rose of death- blood dripping from it's thorns-
Dreams of days gone by.
So quickly from life we are torn,
No time for good-bye.
No time for"I love you."
All that is left is questions of why.
So many questions- answers we'll never know.
Years have now slipped away
Was it really so long ago?
I can't recall your smile.
I can't remember your laugh.
What I'd give to look into your eyes for just awhile.
The hands of time have erased your memory.
I can't hear your voice anymore
Whispering the sweet words of love you once whispered to me.
Each spring as the roses bloom,
My heart dies.
For this was our season of death and doom.
I lay a single rose upon your grave to remember.
Like you, I know someday it will be one with the earth,
And someday to the darkness, I too will surrender.
I hope you'll wait for me on the other side.
For just to hold you again will be worth all the pain.
To hear your laughter will make up for the tears I've cried.
Black rose of death, blood dripping from it's thorns.
No time left for "I love you-"
So quickly from life we are torn.
Roses wilt, hopes and dreams die.
Death's cold grip wraps around the petals of our hearts,
Leaving no time to whisper "good-bye."
